Injured in an Auto Accident? What to Expect from Your First Chiropractic Consultation

Auto accidents can leave you debilitated in many ways. Even if you escaped major injuries such as broken bones or internal injuries, you could have non-obvious injuries that cause headaches, muscle pain, stiffness, and inflexibility for weeks or months to come. If you feel neck, shoulder, or back pain after an auto accident, contact us at Capitol Rehab of Crofton for help in diagnosing your condition. Here’s what you can expect from your first visit to our clinic.

Review of Medical History

On your first visit, we’ll review your medical history to get a better idea of your state of health before and after your auto accident injury. We’ll ask you questions about chronic illnesses and conditions, past accidents and treatments, surgeries you’ve had and medications you’re currently using.

Physical Exam

Next, we’ll give you a thorough physical exam to diagnose your auto accident injury. We’ll check your head, neck, shoulders, and back for signs of pain and discomfort. We’ll test your muscle strength, reflexes, range of motion, and mobility. We’ll ask you questions about the accident and have you describe in detail the symptoms you’re experiencing. If necessary, we’ll take x-rays or an MRI to confirm our diagnosis and rule out the need for surgery. Once we’ve compiled and reviewed this information, we’ll compile a customized treatment plan for you.

Chiropractic Treatment Plan

At Capitol Rehab of Crofton, we personalize all our treatment plans to coincide with the type and severity of your injury. Depending on your condition, we may combine non-invasive chiropractic techniques with other natural therapies such as massage, hot/cold treatments, and physiotherapy.

We’ll take time to explain our methods and techniques and answer any questions you may have so you’ll know what to expect from your treatment. Depending on your circumstances, we may begin treatment the first day or save it for your next visit.
