Your Crofton Acupuncture Experts

For centuries, acupuncture has been accepted as an effective means of treating any number of ailments—which is why we're proud to offer Crofton acupuncture services right here in our office. At Capital Rehab of Crofton, we know just how debilitating chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and other conditions can be, but with the right care and treatment, we believe we can help you overcome your condition.

How Acupuncture Can Help You

Specifically, acupuncture utilizes long, thin needles that are inserted into specific trigger point locations throughout the body. There are a several trigger points that, when penetrated by an acupuncture needle, can result in a number of physical benefits. For example, some are known to help treat food and seasonal allergies, whereas others are known to stimulate the release of the feel-good chemical known as oxytocin, which can help combat symptoms of anxiety and depression. Others still are effective in treating arthritis, recurring headaches, and other sources of physical pain.

Some other potential conditions skilled acupuncture can help with include:

  • Weight Loss
  • Food Allergies
  • Seasonal Allergies
  • Headaches
  • Arthritis
  • Neck Pain & Back Pain
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Drug & Alcohol Addiction
  • Asthma
  • Sleep Disorders
  • Thyroid Dysfunction

The key is to make sure your acupuncture session is being performed by something who is experienced and skilled in the technique. At Capitol Rehab of Crofton, you can rest assured that our staff has the experience and know-how to perform acupuncture in way that will yield the best results for you, both now and in the long-term.

What to Expect From Your Appointment

Many people are unsure about the idea of trying acupuncture because the thought of needles makes them uneasy or they're afraid the procedure will hurt to have done. In reality, however, the needles used in acupuncture are so thin in diameter that most people describe the experience as a relaxing one rather than a painful one. In fact, you shouldn't feel any pain during your appointment. At the very most, you may feel a slight pinch when the needle is inserted.

In most treatments, anywhere from five to 20 needles are inserted, depending on the specific condition being treated and the area of the body. Furthermore, many patients report that their symptoms are at least partially relieved during their first session.
