Upon your arrival at our Crofton chiropractic offices, we'll ask that you fill out our “New Patient Health History Form”. If you prefer, you can download and fill out this form prior to your initial visit.
Once your forms are filled out and submitted, you'll have your initial consultation with Dr. Shaun McClenny. The doctor will talk with you about your health, health-related problems and concerns and address any questions you may have about chiropractic care. This first visit is designed to assist the doctor in learning more about you, your condition, lifestyle, and your expectations. He will discuss the various holistic treatment options available.
With your consent, the doctor will have you undergo a variety of tests. Exams include a postural screening, mobility, range of motion and reflex tests. Other orthopedic tests may be conducted as well. These tests will help us determine your current condition and abilities and will serve as a benchmark in your overall treatment.
Partially depending on the results of your physical examination, x-rays may be taken to give us a better look at the condition of your spine. X-rays can better alert us of any serious conditions that may be present. When x-rays are taken, the doctor will likely share them with you, showing you where abnormalities exist. In many cases, patients themselves can identify these problem areas related to misalignment or degeneration.
Following your consultation, exam, and any x-ray studies, Dr. McClenny will provide a detailed report of his findings. His report to you will include information like if you can be helped by chiropractic care, how often your treatments will need to be made and an estimate of your treatments costs. If medical care from other providers is recommended, he will also inform you of why, and offer options. He will explain how and why chiropractic care can help in your circumstances and what to expect.
Once recommendations have been made, you may choose to experience your initial treatment right away. This too, is your choice. Treatment may include chiropractic adjustments, a variety of massage therapies or other physical therapies. We encourage interactivity during treatment to help us better understand how you are responding to chiropractic care. Many of our patients feel some relief from discomfort or pressure after their first visit. Our goal, of course, is long-lasting relief.
Following your initial visit, our chiropractor will suggest a wellness program to coincide with your in-office visits. If you are currently experiencing pain, he may suggest heat or ice applications. He will tell you what situations to avoid and what stretches or exercises will help your condition. If you like, our team can suggest healthier lifestyle and nutritional options. Our goal is to help you achieve a state of wellness.
