Tips to Alleviate Aches and Pain While Traveling

Alleviate Aches and Pain While Traveling

If you are planning to travel, the last thing that you want is for your chronic aches and pains to ruin your fun. The best way to keep this from happening is to follow a few simple tips to alleviate aches and pains.

Traveling By Car

Road trips can be fun; however, sitting for long periods of time in the car can cause your chronic aches and pains to flare up. There are a few things that you should do to keep this from happening.

Watch your posture: While in the car, you should sit with your back straight and your feet on the floor. This will prevent you from putting excess pressure on your spine.

Bring a neck pillow: If you are the passenger and you take a nap, you should use a neck pillow. If you let your neck fall to the side, you will be in pain when you wake up.

Stretch often: You should stop every hour so, you should pull over so that you can get out and walk around. This will keep your muscles from tightening up and getting cramped. Before pulling over, make sure that you are in a safe, well-lit place away from traffic.

Bring an ice pack: Most pain is accompanied by inflammation. If you apply a cold pack, the swelling will go down, and it will numb your sore muscles.

Traveling By Airplane

While traveling by plane, you will be sitting down for a while. This can cause a neck ache or a backache. To be sure that you aren't in pain when your flight lands, you should follow the following tips.

Use a trolley: If your bags are heavy, you should use a trolley. Carrying heavy bags will cause neck and back pain. If you don't use a trolley, you should put your bags down while you are waiting in line.

Sit often: When you are waiting in lines or waiting for your flight, you should sit as often as possible.

Bring a neck pillow: If you sleep on the plane without support, you are going to wake up with a stiff neck. It is best to bring a neck pillow.

Get up often: Every hour during the flight, you should walk up and down the aisle. Stretching is important if you are going to arrive at your destination pain-free.
